Editorial Standards

Last updated: 4 October 2026

The MENA Ledger publishes work intended to be accurate, independent, fair and useful. These standards apply to staff, freelance contributors and commissioned specialists.

Accuracy and verification

Material factual claims should be supported by primary documents, direct interviews, official data or clearly identified reliable sources. Statistics must include their source and relevant period. Quotations must be faithful to the speaker’s meaning and verified against notes, recordings or approved transcripts.

Attribution and originality

We do not copy reporting, images or creative work without permission. Information first reported elsewhere is credited and linked where appropriate. Contributors must submit original work and disclose whether any part has appeared previously.

Independence and conflicts

Writers must disclose financial, professional or personal relationships that could affect their coverage. Gifts, travel or access do not guarantee favourable treatment. Editorial conclusions are not sold.

Fairness and right of reply

When a story contains significant criticism or allegations about an identifiable party, we make a reasonable effort to seek a response before publication and represent the relevant context fairly.

Corrections

Material errors are corrected promptly and transparently. Minor typographical changes may be made without a correction note when they do not alter meaning.

Commercial content

Paid work is clearly labelled Partner Content, Sponsored or Produced by The Ledger Brand Studio. Sponsors may review factual details but may not buy an undisclosed claim of independent editorial endorsement.
