AI and Editorial Assistance Policy

Last updated: 4 October 2026

The MENA Ledger may use artificial-intelligence tools to support limited parts of the editorial workflow. Human editors remain accountable for everything we publish.

Permitted uses

  • Transcription and translation assistance
  • Research organisation and document summarisation
  • Headline, structure and search-metadata options
  • Copy-editing and readability checks
  • Data cleaning or analysis that is independently verified

What AI may not replace

AI output is not treated as a source. We do not knowingly publish fabricated quotations, invented facts, unverified citations or synthetic reporting. Sensitive source material is not entered into third-party systems without appropriate safeguards and permission.

Images and disclosure

Illustrative synthetic imagery may be used only when it cannot reasonably be mistaken for documentary evidence and when its nature is disclosed. News photographs are never altered in a way that changes the factual meaning of a scene.

Human responsibility

A named human editor or author reviews the accuracy, context, originality, rights and presentation of every published article.
